“We are proud of this extraordinary result, which rewards the commitment and vision of our administration. The funding obtained represents not only a goal, but a starting point to strengthen the link between sports, young people and above all inclusion”. With these words, the mayor of Vibo Valentia, Enzo Romeo, commented on the placement of the Municipality in fifth place in the national ranking for the assignment of funds intended for sports facilities. The loan, equal to 880 thousand euros, is provided by the Department for Sport of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers and will be intended for the creation of a new sports hall, the third of the city, which will be multipurpose, modern and inclusive, since particular attention, even in the preparation phase of the design proposal, was paid to the Paralympic disciplines.
A result resulting from an intense team work that saw the councilors Salvatore Monteleone (public works) and Stefano Soriano (sports facilities) protagonists, in synergy with the municipal offices, led by the public works manager Lorena Callisti, flanked by the Rup Emilia Ferrari.
“This project – added the mayor Romeo – is a concrete sign of attention to sporting practice, which we consider fundamental for the psycho -physical growth of our children and for the socio -cultural development of the city. Vibo Valentia deserves adequate spaces where sport can be experienced as an instrument of inclusion, education and well -being. And it is particularly happy to be able to give the city a place where the paralympic disciplines can be practiced with greater pre -proportibility and spaces”.
Meanwhile, this morning the councilors Soriano and Monteleone were audited in the council commission and were able to illustrate to the directors the process followed, from the design to the loan, and the subsequent steps. During the intervention, the two representatives of the junta did not hide their satisfaction for a result that someone, in recent months, deemed naively unattainable: “And instead the facts, and time, have given us reason. And also for this reason we cannot fail to thank the precious and competent work of our office new works”.
The new sports hall, which will rise in moderate Durant along the highway 18, will be conceived as a multipurpose structure, capable of hosting different disciplines and events. In particular, it will be built to host sports that have not had large spaces available to date, and above all adequate spaces to Paralympic disciplines: from martial arts to tennis, passing through the free struggle and the Paralympic tennis.
