The era of the “new” Vibonese has begun. After the hard-earned salvation achieved in the playout final with Acireale, the club from Via Piazza D’Armi restarts from Serie D with renewed enthusiasm and with the aim of relaunching its ambitions after a season that to define as troubled is an understatement. In the press room of the “Luigi Razza” stadium, the new president Rino Putrino (Vibo native), the sole director, Cosimo Vullo, the general director Francesco Chirico, the sporting director Fabrizio Maglia, presented themselves to the press. The historic president and main sponsor Pippo Caffo also spoke by telephone during the conference. Vullo underlined the importance of the operation which led him to acquire the majority shares (60%) from the former president Cammarata and immediately focused on the importance of having already built an important and well-defined corporate structure. Entrepreneur from the Agrigento area, Vullo has been working in the world of football for some time and comes from his last experience with Sancataldese. The new president Putrino thanked Mr. Fanello (the technician who brought the ship to the port, anchoring it to safety) and underlined how the discussions he had in recent months with some entrepreneurs from Vibo ultimately turned out to be just “chatter that didn’t end well”. Putrino also made clear one of the pillars on which the club will focus a lot, namely the youth sector, with the aim of building something important. Finally, sporting director Maglia: the manager from Lamezia did not announce the name of the new coach (who in any case has been chosen and is Salvatore Marra, former Igea Virtus) and underlined how the construction of the squad starts from scratch because there is no player under contract. Furthermore, Maglia, smiling, asked the other managers to “cover their ears” because his dream is to see Vibonese in the Lega Pro in view of the club’s centenary which will be in 2028.
