Having archived the exciting weekend in Reggio Calabria where the Final Four of the Calabria Cup was staged at the Pala Calafiore – Sensation Women’s Serie C perfumeries, “Sergio Sorrenti” Memorial, it is already time to think about a new great event. On Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 March the “two days” of the Calabria Cup – Sensation Perfumery of the men’s C series, Memorial “Giancarlo Naso” will be staged in Siderno. The venue for the Final Four will be the “Eunice Kennedy Shriver” sports hall in Viale Sasso Marconi. Great volleyball, therefore, returns to Siderno and Locride after the recent event of national importance last December when the Sitting Volleyball Italian Cup final was staged.

Contending for the men’s cup are the magnificent four: Olimpia Pallavolo 1978 Bagnara, Volo Virtus Lamezia, Diper Jolly Cinquefrondi and Pallavolo Milani Rende. This is the competition programme:

Saturday 21 March
Olimpia Volleyball 1978 Bagnara – Virtus Lamezia Flight (at 6.30 pm)
Diper Jolly Cinquefrondi – Volleyball Milani Rende (at 8.30pm)

Sunday 22 March
The final between the winners of the two semi-finals will be played at 5.30pm.

All three matches will be visible live on the Fipav Calabria YouTube channel. Real-time updates on Fipav Calabria’s social channels, Facebook and Instagram.

Mariateresa Fragomeni (mayor of Siderno): “We are delighted once again with this collaboration with Fipav Calabria and I thank the president Carmelo Sestito because Siderno loves volleyball. Hosting the final of the men’s Serie C Calabria Cup is an honor for the city of Siderno because it is first and foremost a way to focus attention on sport and Siderno is very keen to ensure that it is considered a town that cares about sport and in particular about volleyball. And also because in a period of low tourist season it is always a way to create an economic impact within our city. I already foresee a lot of people coming from all over Calabria and we have immediately focused on the combination of tourism, seasonal adjustment and economic impact that will be created. It will be an important opportunity to make our city known, we are waiting for you in Siderno”.

Carmelo Sestito (president of Fipav Calabria): “Our relationship with Siderno and the municipal administration represented by the mayor Mariateresa Fragomeni began a few years ago with the women’s national team, the national S3 Volleyball final with hundreds of children and parents coming from all over Italy and always in periods in which there is not a high tourist season. I wanted to thank the mayor again for what he did last December with the two Sitting Volleyball Italian Cup finals with the structure of our national team Paralympic Games in Siderno. We received compliments from all over Italy and it was a wonderful initiative. Now we are ready to experience another important moment with the men’s Serie C Calabria Cup final and we look forward to seeing many of you.”
