The controls of the carabinieri in the Reggio area continue without stopping aimed at combating submerged work and verifying compliance with the safety regulations on the workplace. This time, a well -known restaurant in the city center of Bianco ended up in the sights of the military, on the Ionian Band Reggina.
During an inspection activity, the soldiers of the Carabinieri di Bianco station, supported by the specialized personnel of the Inspectorate of the Labor of Reggio Calabria, carried out a targeted check at the catering exercise, with the aim of verifying the regularity of employees’ job positions and compliance with the safety conditions provided for by current legislation.
At the sight of the military, the waiters who served at the tables, all young people of the place, tried to get rid of escape, coming into immediacy blocked by the operators who, after having acquired the generality, immediately found that the four workers were employed without any type of contract and in total absence of the protections provided by law: a situation that consequently triggered the disputes. The owner was therefore referred to in a state of freedom for violations regarding the use of irregular labor and for the failure to comply with the obligations provided for safety in the workplace.
Not only that. In light of what has been ascertained, the suspension of the entrepreneurial activity was also arranged and criminal and administrative sanctions were elevated for a total amount of about 22 thousand euros, against the employer, testifying to the severity of the irregularities detected.
The activity falls within a larger control plan at provincial level, aimed at contrasting the phenomenon of black work and guaranteeing dignified and safe conditions for all workers, especially in the seasonal sectors and higher risk of exploitation, such as that of catering.
