The City becomes a great stage to welcome the “Dance festival“, a full immersion that offers the open dance lesson in Piazza Prefettura, the contemporary show “Plus ultra. Beyond the myth”, “Gaîté Parisienne”, the great show of the Belle Époque and the meeting with the choreographer Fredy Franzutti. It is the weekend of dance, included in the program of the twenty-first edition of the Autumn Festival, directed by Antonietta Santacroce which this year wanted to offer its spectators something more than the usual dance show: Saturday 19 OctoberIn fact, throughout the day in three different locations, there will be shows and activities for everyone. We will start in the heart of the historic center, in Prefecture square where we will start at 4pm with the contemporary dance masterclass: dancers and aspiring dancers are invited to participate in this outdoor lesson, an unrepeatable opportunity to meet two international choreographers, expand their knowledge and have fun while sharing their passion for the art of dance. The lesson will be open to all those who are at least 12 years old, are dressed in white and will register by sending the registration form on the website www.Festivald autumn.com. The masterclasses will be conducted by the masters Marco Laudani And Claudio Scaliainternational choreographers, guest teachers at numerous training centers in Italy and abroad such as: Premiere Ballet Oc in Los Angeles, Kolektyw Ruchu in Gdansk, Akropoditi dance center in Syros, Maison de Bégon in Blois, Modem atelier of Scenario Pubblico Compagnia Zappalà dances in Catania.

To followat 6 pm in the cloister of the San Giovanni Complex there will be a contemporary dance show in the national premiere of “Plus ultra. Beyond the myth” of the company Ocram Dance Movement. The ballet, born from an idea of Marco Laudanidirected by Laudani himself e Sergio Campisi, is a contemporary work dedicated to myth, to tell the human condition and the challenges we constantly face: it is in fact only thanks to their inner strength that the heroes Icarus and Achilles transform their destiny, since challenging Fate is a declaration of faith in the human ability to face the unknown with courage. The choreography is by Laudani e Glenda Gheller.
In the foyer of the Politeama Theater at 7.30pm there will be a meeting with Fredy Franzuttia successful choreographer, among the best known and appreciated not only in Italy but also abroad, who will talk about his international experience which saw him collaborate with the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow, the Monte Carlo Opera, the Teatro dell’Opera of Rome and, among others, also with RaiUno for the creation of various events. Finally, the XXI Autumn Festival – supported by the Calabria Region/Calabria Straordinaria; Chamber of Commerce of Catanzaro, Crotone and Vibo Valentia; Municipality of Catanzaro, Carical Foundation, as well as various private bodies – will conclude the “Dance Festival” at 9pm in the Politeama Theatre, with the Southern Ballet and “Gaîté Parisienne”, a grandiose installation designed by Fredy Franzutti and co-produced by the Autumn Festival, which pays homage to the golden age of Paris, that of the Belle Époque.
A sparkling show will be staged with Offenbach’s engaging music including cancans and mazurkas, polkas and waltzes; over twenty-five dancers, singers, actresses and acrobats on stage; sumptuous period costumes faithfully reproduced and rich sets specially created by Francesco Palma. On the stage of the Politeama Theatre, perfectly reproduced on stage, the Paris of the early twentieth century will be relived, thanks to a meticulous study of scenes and costumes to revive the climate, the liveliness, the euphoria of the era, when it was the absolute capital of culture and worldliness and dictated the law in terms of fashion, music, new trends and innovations, Beauty goes on stage.
