The kidnapping alert system activated last night in Alençon (Orne) in northern France following the disappearance of a 3-year-old girl was lifted this morning, although the little girl has not yet been found. This was announced by the Ministry of Justice. “By decision of the Alençon prosecutor’s office, the kidnapping alert has been lifted,” the ministry said, adding that “the investigations continue.”
The girl, named Khuslen and of Mongolian origin, was abducted on Monday evening, according to the alert issued yesterday. The prosecutor’s office did not immediately provide further details on the reasons for the revocation of the procedure. The girl’s alleged kidnapper, her father, may have fled in a white Peugeot 308, according to information released on Tuesday evening. The little girl, with “dark skin,” “black eyes and hair” and “a spot on her forehead,” was wearing “a gray dress, a pacifier and a Mickey Mouse doll” at the time of the incident, reads the alert, which described the alleged kidnapper with “a large red spot on her neck” and dressed in “a green sweater” and sneakers.
Last September 25, the kidnapping alert system had already been successfully activated in the Orne, after the disappearance of a twelve-year-old kidnapped by a friend of her father in Dompierre. The suspect and the minor, safe and sound, were found a few hours later in Loire-Atlantique, thanks to a tip-off in a supermarket.
