On the occasion of March 8, International Women’s Day, Cetty Scarcella, Calabrian exponent of Forza Italia, intervenes with a reflection on the challenges still open.

«March 8 is not a simple anniversary. We will celebrate International Women’s Day, a day that ideally unites women around the world in the fight for dignity and equality. As a woman involved in the Forza Italia area, I follow the path traced by our liberal and moderate values: we firmly believe that the active participation of women in political life is not just a question of quotas, but an essential condition for a complete and modern democracy.” «In a complex region like our Calabria – underlines Scarcella – women have always represented the true social glue. There are mothers, professionals, entrepreneurs and administrators who often work in conditions of double or triple fatigue. The Calabrian woman is a symbol of extraordinary resilience, but we must not allow this strength to become an alibi for politics. Our task is to create social infrastructures – nurseries, family services, support for self-entrepreneurship – that allow Calabrian women to no longer have to choose between career and family. Forza Italia has always demonstrated its ability to enhance female skills at the top of institutions. Our challenge is to bring this vision to every municipality and every local authority. Female sensitivity in political choices guarantees greater attention to welfare, education and the protection of vulnerable groups, themes which are at the heart of our political program”. In conclusion, the Italian exponent launches an appeal: «Today we celebrate the goals achieved, but our gaze must always remain attentive. March 8 must turn into 365 days of concrete commitment. Calabria needs the talent and vision of its women to look forward with hope and concreteness. My commitment, and that of Forza Italia, will continue to be to give voice to those who contribute every day to making our land a better place.”
