Giuseppe Morabito, 80 years old, born in Africo but resident in Tradate, in the Varese area, accused in the trial underway before the Assize Court of Como against the alleged instigators of the kidnapping of Cristina MazzottiAnd died at the end of last November.

Considered one of the masterminds of the kidnapping of eighteen-year-old Cristina, who was taken from the gate of the family home in Eupilio (Como) on 30 June 1975 and found dead on 1 September in the Galliate landfill, in the province of Novara, Morabito should have attended a meeting today new hearing at which his defenders presented themselves with a death certificate. It will now be up to the Assize Court to evaluate the possible extinction of the disputes due to the death of the accused.

Morabito was on trial together with Demetrio Latella, 70 years old, investigated and then accused on the basis of a fingerprint found at the time of the kidnapping but which remained unattributed until 2006, with Giuseppe Calabrò, 74 years old, known as “u’dottaturicchiu”, and Antonio Talia, 73, all believed to be implicated in various capacities in the kidnapping.

The first degree trial ended in Novara on 7 May 1977 with thirteen sentences, including eight life sentences for custodians, switchboard operators, blackmailers and accomplices of the gang. Cristina Mazzotti was the daughter of Elios Mazzotti, an entrepreneur in the cereal branch and owner of the company “Mazzotti e C.”
