A story of formation and family ties in a Sicily with Northeurous atmospheres, far from any stereotype, for the “indelible” thriller, the first work of Simone Valentini. After the preview at the last noir in Festival and the release in theaters, the film – produced by Giovanni Amico and Twister Film with the contribution of the Ministry of Culture and the support of Sicily Film Commission – returns to Sicily one year after the shooting for A series of projections during which director, cast and producer will meet the public. Made in the locations of the Palermo of Castelbuono, Isnello, Geraci Siculo and in the area of Madonie, the plot proposes a story set in an imaginary country without name of the Sicilian hinterland, where a case of disappearance, during the Christmas holidays, makes the fear re -driven of the “monster”, a killer who had sowed terror among the inhabitants ten years earlier. The main suspect, suspected in the past of the murders, Carlo, elderly and lonely hunter to whom he gives face the actor of Castelvetrano Fabrizio Ferracane, who at the noir in Festival won the Luca Switzerland prize for the role. At his side the Palermo Giulia Dragotto in the role of Veronica, his nephew entrusted to him by his daughter Betta (the Messina Federica De Cola), who will begin to feed suspicions against him, triggering a series of disturbing events that will lead her to confront the past it is the truth. “Veronica will carry out her investigations moved by curiosity and obstinacy, despite the feared reality she can make her feel bad – tells us Giulia Dragotto – is a girl led to analyze the situations from the outside and in fact the difficulty in interpreting the role was the work was On non -verbal: micro -pressions, breaths and gaze ».
A protagonist of a thickness in a film where women, even in small roles, are the strong and active part of the story. Federica De Cola stresses this by talking about her character. “Betta had to be present also in her absence – she tells us – she is a mother who tries to look after her daughter, entrusting her to her grandfather to protect her from conflicting family dynamics, despite having a difficult relationship with him. The story is played on those small shades through which we actors have tried to create that deep layer that gives body to the whole film ».
The setting to show the fragile balance of provincial realities is fundamental. “The thriller is a pretext to explore what effect a disappearance can have in a community with its rules and its balances – Simone Valentini tells us – The Madonie were a fantastic stage for the setting, as well as the small villages of the Palermo. By combining these spaces we managed to represent a more universal world than that of the story itself ». Visual and narrative reference points to portray an inhospitable province, even for those who live there, the cold settings typical of European thrillers such as “suspicion”, “as bestas” and “wild animals”.
Great satisfaction from the producer Giovanni Amico, of Mussomeli (Caltanissetta). “We are enthusiastic about the film and we will certainly continue to explore this type of story of the territory with directors and stories, bringing a little known South to the cinema”. Written by Paolo Bernardelli and Laura Chiossone with Francesca Scanu, Luca Di Molfetta and Francesca Tassini, “indelible” sees in the artistic cast the Palermo actors Miriam Dalmazio, Ester Vinci, Vincenzo Crivello and Susanna Piraino and the Catania Goffredo Maria Bruno. Among the members of the technical staff the Palermitans Costanza Gelardi (scenografa) and Gaspare Macaluso (phonic) and the Cittanovese Monica Caminiti (Costumist assistant). Distributed by Adler and Friend Distribution, with the associated production of Mediaflow, “indelible” is among the projects supported by the Venice Gap-Financing Market 2022 of the Venice exhibition.
