“Arangea bis – Oikos”. It is the conventional name of a vast operation – coordinated by the District Anti -Mafia Directorate of Reggio Calabria led by Giuseppe Lombardo – which sees more than 250 investigators of the carabinieri, the Guardia di Finanza and the State Police in the execution of Two different precautionary measuresissued by the investigating judge of Reggio Calabria towards, in total, of 54 subjects Seriously circumstantial, in various capacities, of a criminal association aimed at drug trafficking, detention of drugs for the purpose of dealing, recycling and extortion, with the aggravating circumstance, for some suspects, to have acted with mafia method.
The investigations, developed between 2021 and 2024, made it possible to reconstruct two different associations for specialized criminal, one in the retail dealing in the territories of Reggio Calabria, Villa San Giovanni and Gioia Tauro; The other, in the import of cocaine, hashish and marijuana from Ecuador, Spain, Germany, Holland and Belgium by exploiting the port of Gioia Tauro as a strategic hub.
During the investigations, which made use of the most modern technologies, the men of the Guardia di Finanza, the State Police and the Arma placed under seizure cash and hundreds of kilos of drugs.
