Three strong earthquake shocks – of magnitude 7.4, 6.7 and 5.2 – were recorded today off the coast of the Far East of Russia, triggering a tsunami alert: the US geophysical institute reports USGS. “Dangerous tsunami waves are possible” within 300 kilometers from the epicenter in the Pacific, off the city of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky, according to the Institute. The hypocenter of the 7.4 magnitude shock was located at a depth of 20 km.
5.4 magnitude earthquake in the north-east of Iran
An earthquake of magnitude 5.4 also shaken the province of Golestan, in the north-east of Iran, reports the US geophysical institute USGS. The earthquake was located 10 km deep and 31 km east of the village of Qornabad. According to Irna, it was also warned in some cities in the nearby province of Senan. For the moment there are information about possible injuries, victims or damage.
