Approved in the meeting, held at the Prefecture of Catanzaro, of the Provincial Committee for order and public security 31 projects presented by the Municipalities of the Province (referred to in the attached list) for access to funding for urban video surveillance allocated, for the year 2024, by the Ministry of the Interior.
At the meeting, chaired by the Prefect of Catanzaro, Castrese De Rosa, The Quaestor participated Linaresthe provincial commander of the Carabinieri Corps Col. Mazzullothe major Rose of the Guardia di Finanza and the mayors of the local authorities concerned.
During the meeting, the projects – supported by the technical opinion of the Telecommunications area of the State Police – and to detect the priority of prevention and contrast of the widespread and predatory crime phenomena illustrated by the representatives of the proposing administrations was analyzed.
At the same time as the project approvalthe prefect and the mayors have signed 31 new “urban security agreements”, which provide for the implementation of video surveillance systems and the constant connection between the prefecture and municipalities as fundamental tools through which to prevent and contrast the phenomena of widespread and predatory crime and promote compliance with urban decorum.
“The initiative – said the Prefect De Rosa – It is channeled into the path of increase in safety, even perceived, that the Ministry of the Interior is carrying out and binds, as animated by the same purpose to counteract the illegality and urban degradation, to the activities that are being carried out to stem the uncomfortable situations that are recorded in some suburbs, such as the interventions under construction in the southern suburbs of Catanzaro and in the area occupied by the Roma camp of Scordovillo in Lamezia in Lamezia Terme. In these contexts, the synergistic and profitable work between the Prefecture, the Calabria Region, the municipal administrations concerned and also the fruitful and relevant support provided by Aterp are outlining and making pre -established planning achievable, based on an already defined chronoprogram that will see the remediation of the area and the relocation of the Roma ethnic nuclei in other urban contexts and the concomitant demolition of the slum“.
The common objective is to prevent and counteract forms of degradation and urban marginality, phenomena such as drug dealing and predatory crimes that most impact on the perception of safety. Video -surveillance is fundamental because it contributes to deterrence and feeds trust in citizens who feel more sure. With the signature of the 31 pacts for urban security, municipalities will now be able to participate in the ministerial call and once the projects have been financed to broaden the network of cameras on the provincial territory.
