The Senate approved the constitutional reform of the careers of magistrates with 106 votes in favor, 61 no and eleven abstentions. The text approved in second reading – is the first resolution of the Senate – returns to the Chamber.

“The second reading approval in the Senate of the Constitutional Reform of Justice marks an important step towards a commitment that we had made with the Italians and that we are carrying on decisively. The path is not yet concluded, but today we confirm our determination in giving Italy an increasingly efficient, fair and transparent judicial system”. “I am very satisfied, because I made my aspiration: it is since 1995, when I wrote the first book on justice as a magistrate, I firmly believed it.”, Commented the Guardasigilli, Carlo Nordio, conversing with journalists in the Senate.

“In the face of such an epochal reform, the divergences of opinions have exacerbated each other, now I hope that the dialogue will resume with greater serenity,” said Nordio.
