The implementation phase of the “step” measures in Calabria starts today, with an allocation of 180 million euros.
Two measures in the start to attract investments and strengthen large -scale innovation and competitiveness: the “Step Technologies” Fund (Tecstep), an innovative financial instrument with a total equipment of 100 million euros.

The two initiatives aim to support the development and manufacture of strategic technologies in the areas of advanced digital, Deep Tech and Green technologies.
The Councilor for Economic Development, Rosario Varì, underlined the importance of these interventions, declaring: “With the measures Step Calabria the regional production system takes a further step towards a new industrial vision. We continue to invest energy and resources so that our region becomes fertile ground for companies that look to the future, which invest in innovative border areas, which produce value and occupation qualified in favor of our young talents”.
All companies, large and small – for the financial instrument only in a single form, will be able to access the measures, while for participation in the notes -fund notice, also in aggregate form – which already operate or who intend to settle in Calabria, with financial reliability and which present innovative projects in the technological, manufacturing and advanced services.
In the case of the Tecstep Fund, the financial intervention, equal to 80% of the investment, provides for subsidized 50% loans at a fixed rate of 1% up to 10 years, subsidiary subsidies of up to 30% of the investment and a contribution of the 20% company, for projects between 750,000 euros and 15 million.
The STEP Calabria notice, on the other hand, provides for a lost fund which, for the share of production investments, provides for 50% for large companies, up to 70% for small businesses.
“An important challenge for the regional administration -remarked Varia -, aimed at contributing to the reduction of European strategic dependencies. Strengthen the presence of Calabria in the chains of the European and international industrial value will help to create a new economy with the aim of stimulating the birth and consolidation of excellence industrial centers and to retain young skills”.
The opening of the two counters for submitting applications on the measures is scheduled for in early October. The applications will be evaluated on the basis of the chronological order of presentation, through a dedicated portal.
“With the two steps initiatives presented today -concluded the commissioner -, we want to send a clear message to the investors: Calabria is ready to be the protagonist of the European strategic challenge by claiming who will choose our land to do business, innovate and grow together”.
The General Manager of the Economic Development Department, Paolo Pratico, and Emilia Adriana Mazzei for Fincalabra also attended the meeting with the press.
