A 29 -year -old young man, residing in Reggio Calabria and uncensored, was arrested by the police on charges of detention for drug dealing purposes. The man was stopped by the agents of the Mobile Squad while traveling the highway 106 aboard a Fiat Panda. His driving behavior, alternating slowdowed sections of sudden accelerations, has suspicious the policemen, who decided to proceed with a check. During the search, under the rear seat of the car, a dough containing over a kilogram of pure cocaine was foundcarefully hidden. According to investigative estimates, the drug, if introduced on the market, could have yielded more than 200,000 euros.
The operation is part of a large control plan of the territory prepared by the Quaestor of Crotone, Renato Panvino, with the aim of fighting drug trafficking in the areas of the city nightlife and the coast. The arrest also fits into the frame of a close collaboration between the mobile team and the Public Prosecutor’s Office, led by Dr. Domenico Guarascio, to dismantle the criminal networks that supply the canals of the shop in the province.
In the meantime, further investigations are underway to ascertain any links between the arrested and organized groups. A search made at the same time at his home in Reggio Calabria did not give out.
