“The Crotonese yesterday witnessed yet another electoral propaganda operation masked institutional visit to the Minister of Culture Alessandro Giuli at the Archaeological Park of Capo Colonna has nothing to do with the protection of the historical and cultural heritage of our land, but it was only the advance of an election campaign designed at the table for the president Occhiuto, ready to resign and to re -adjection after years of advertisements”. The provincial secretary of the Democratic Party Leo Barberio declares it.
“It is no coincidence – the note continues – that the news of the resignation arrived on the eve of the convention of Forza Italia and on the eve of the minister’s visit, in a perfect media direction move. The real goal was clear: to be talked about and obscure the real problems of Calabria and Crotone.

Minister Giuli transformed his visit to Capo Colonna into an electoral farce, candidly declaring that he wants to “launch the election campaign of Occhiuto”. But as they glorified each other with soap opera tones, no response has been given on the real critical issues concerning the archaeological park of Capo Colonna and the project of Antica Kroton.

Let’s clarify. The minister and the president should have responded to these problems: the Archaeological Park of Capo Colonna was downgraded to the Appendix of the Sibari Park, over two hours of cars distant. Antica Kroton is wrapped in mystery: no information on progress, no certainty about the construction times, still still construction sites, projects on the high seas. Coast erosion threatens the very existence of the park, but neither the minister nor the president of the Region have deigned to announce urgent interventions, despite the same director of the park asked for immediate resources to curb the emergency.
In short, zero concreteness, zero funds, zero floors. Only electoral commercials, pats on the shoulders and smiles for the cameras.
To Minister Giuli and President Occhiuto we ask for three simple but fundamental things:
1. Chiarezza on the opening times of the construction sites of Antica Kroton and a real progress of the works.
2. maggiore autonomy for the Capo Colonna park, with dedicated resources and local management.
3. Realications for Infopoints, Services, qualified personnel and for the safety of the archaeological area with erosion risk.
Crotone and its history are not the scenography of the political ambitions of Occhiuto nor the stage for the self -celebrating monologues of Giuli. They are a precious resource for the whole country, and they deserve respect, protection and real investments-not words in the wind and pre-electoral catwalks.
