The extraordinary plan of targeted disinfestation plan developed by the municipal administration in order to counteract the presence of the carriers carriers of the “West Nile” mosquitoes will start this night at midnight in Catanzaro. The first area of the city will be interested will be the one in the south and precisely: Santa Maria; from Viale Magna Grecia to the station; Fortune; Crow; Pistoia; Orange; Lido (Corace area – Porto – Giovino).
For the best effectiveness of the interventions, citizens are invited to avoid, as far as possible, the formation of stagnation of water and the accumulation of waste inside or in the immediate vicinity of their homes. In addition, during the disinfestation operations, it is recommended, as a precaution, to keep the windows closed; keep pets at home; do not stop in open environments and for the 2 hours following the disinfestation; avoid spreading linen; adequately cover the foodstuffs and fruit and vegetable plantations, however avoiding the consumption of products, if not appropriately washed, in the 48 hours following disinfestation.
The intervention, which will continue in the next few days (nights of 9, 12, 13, 18), was arranged as a precaution and preventive, in compliance with the indications provided by the Ministry of Health and by the competent health authorities, with the priority objective of protecting public health and guaranteeing hygiene-health safety conditions for all citizens.
