An apparently harmless gesture, but which in summer can be transformed into a serious danger to the environment and public safety. The carabinieri of the Limbadi station surprised a local man while burning brushwood inside their agricultural land, in the middle of the prohibition.
The flames, powered by the wind and high temperatures, can in fact spread rapidly, putting at risk not only crops but also houses and woods. For this reason, in the months of maximum danger, the legislation requires the prohibition to eliminate vegetable residues with fire, allowing these operations only in periods and methods established by the competent authorities.
An administrative sanction has been elevated to the man.
