The Guardia di Finanza of Reggio Calabria discovered and seized a vast cannabis plantation hidden among the vegetation in Sant’Eufemia d’Aspromonte. The operation took place following a report from the Aeronavale Operational Department of Vibo Valentia, who during a Sorvolo activity had identified the suspected area near a stream.

The military of the Palmi company intervened on the spot, who found dozens of plants, some over three meters high and already in an advanced state of maturation. The cultivation, extended for about 250 square meters, was equipped with a sophisticated automated irrigation system powered by the water of the nearby watercourse. Near the plantation, cages were also found for drying, a sign that the entire production cycle of the drug was managed directly on site.

Coordinated by the substitute prosecutor Teodora Pottino di Capuano, of the Public Prosecutor of Palmi directed by Emanuele Crescenti, the operation ended with the seizure of the material for irrigation and destruction on the scene of the plants. According to the investigators’ estimates, once dried and placed on the market, marijuana could have yielded over 50 thousand euros.
