The Higher Institute of Health has confirmed the diagnosis of botulism (after the consumption of some sandwiches in a diamond food truck) for eight other patients hospitalized at the Annunziata hospital in Cosenza, bringing eleven the total of the cases ascertained so far. In the meantime, samples have been taken from three other patients who recently made access to the hospital: the tests are being shipped to the ISS for further analyzes.
Yesterday evening, a new suspicion affected a 17 -year -old boy, who arrived in the emergency room with symptoms compatible with botulism. The young man is currently hospitalized in intensive care: his conditions are stable and do not arouse particular concern, but remain under close observation.
Meanwhile, today, three patients will be discharged and will be able to return to their home.
The situation of hospitalizations
There are currently seven patients still hospitalized:
4 are found in intensive care;
3 are instead hosted in the medical area departments.
The health authorities continue to monitor the situation with the utmost attention, while the investigations continue to trace the origin of the outbreak.
