The metropolitan city of Messina has obtained two funding from the Sicilian Region, relating to the 2022 and 2023 years, for a total of 34.9 million euros intended for extraordinary maintenance of roads and school construction.

The resources, already scheduled but so far not available, have been unlocked following a constant institutional confrontation between the metropolitan mayor, Federico Basile, the general manager, Giuseppe Campass, and the competent regional offices. The activity carried out allowed the liquidation of the sums in line with the 2021-2025 five-year program, representing an important strategic result and opening the way to expected and strategic interventions for the territory. For 2022 the amount of 16,813,173.54 euros was paid, while for 2023 the liquidated sum amounts to 18,129,588.26 euros.
