The research and recovery operations of two Belgian tourists who had been lost in the woods among the municipalities of Nardodipace (VV) and Bivongi (RC) successfully ended.
It was about 18:10 on August 19th when the two tourists, after leaving the car in the municipality of Nardodipace and walked for several hours in the woods of the Calabrian greenhouses, lost their orientation and asked for help through the Nue 112.
Received the rescue call, the operating room of the command of Vibo Valentia sent the team of the Detachment of Serra S. Bruno to the area, to which was added the team of the detachment of Monasterace (RC).
Late yesterday evening at about 10:30 pm the two missing were visually identified, through the lights of the torches but, finding themselves on the opposite side with respect to the rescuers and being the ground steep and densely wooded and bushy, they could not be reached.
With the first lights of dawn, the operational teams reached two tourists and required the intervention of the helicopter of the Fire Brigade of the Flight Department of Lamezia Terme for recovery.
At 08.40 am from Lamezia Terme airport, Dragon VF62 took off that reached the place of the intervention and made the recovery, through radiation, of the dispersed people who are in good health.
