A new scam risks making several citizens fall into the trap. This time the authors of the deception devised the system of the false road fine, implemented yesterday between Taormina and Letojanni, but is not excluded in other municipalities. Many motorists have found a sanction on the windshield of their car that reproduces that issued by the palms of the local police operators, a strip of normal paper which, however, has nothing to do with that usually used by automatic emitters. The sanction reports that of the municipal police of the municipality of Catania as its header, does not indicate the number of targa of the fined vehicle, day and time, but contains generic indications such as “August” and “morning” and reports an amount to be paid for 37.24 euros for prohibition of parking. At the bottom of the “scam sanction” the recognizable signature of an alleged agent and a QR code to scan with the smartphone to pay the amount requested, which refers to an internet link to choose the payment method. A scam in which some citizens have already fallen, not paying attention to the Farlocco coupon and the information contained, as it is easily understood that it is a scam since the local police of Catania has no competence along the streets of the Ionian centers of the province of Messina.
Law enforcement officers were informed and the municipalities also invited motorists to be careful avoiding falling into the deception by paying sums of money to the scammers.
