The landings of migrants in the port of Roccella Ionica continue. Only in the last four months 14 have occurred, three of which in the last five days.
This time 65 migrants arrived, of Iranian, Iraqi and Palestinian nationality. During a difficult rescue operation at sea, they were identified by the military of the Roccella Ionica Coast Guard. Among the migrants also nine women, four children and nine unaccompanied minors.
The migrants, left five days ago from Türkiye, were aboard a sailing boat of about 12 meters. After the transbord, for safety reasons, on the Coast Guard patrol boat, the 65 migrants were taken to the port and after the landing, at the end of a first check by the police and medical staff of the provincial health company, were entrusted to the volunteers of the Red Cross and hosted in the first reception and rescue center set up in the port area.
