The one in progress in Gaza for journalists and TV operators is becoming a real slaughter, the bloodiest war ever recorded for the category.
More than the two world conflicts, more than the Korea war or that of Vietnam, more than Afghanistan. With the five killed in the raid on the Khan Yunis hospital, the reporters who died in the strip since the beginning of the offensive of Israel, on October 7, 2023, as reported by the union of the Palestinian journalists, go up to at least 245. The most bloody month on October 2023 with 37 victims, according to the American Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ). The data of Reporters Sans Fronties (RSF) indicate that at least 380 those remained injured more or less seriously injured in Israeli attacks. While 90 are the destroyed information locations, 31 the Palestinian journalists imprisoned and detained in Israeli prisons and 35 cases where reporters have been deliberately affected, while all the others fall into the category of collateral victims. From 2000 to today, 1,683 journalists killed in all wars have indicated UNESCO statistics, and only in 2024 – explains the CPJ – a reporter killed every three days was recorded.
