On the basis of the determinations taken in the Provincial Committee for the order and public safety, held in the Prefecture last Friday and following the detail indications established during the technical table held at the Police Headquarters, with an order of the Quaestor of Vibo Valentia, an airplane, naval and terrestrial interforce was prepared yesterday, which allowed to intense the supervisory and control activities along the lito Vibonese.
Specifically, the seaside checks were ensured by seven coastal guard patrol boats and the naval operating department of the Guardia di Finanza, as well as by the Hall patrol ship Oreste Corsa Coast Guard which allowed to deploy two fast boats for control activities. As part of the operation, a helicopter of the Guardia di Finanza was also employed, as well as numerous patrols on the ground of the State Police, Carabinieri, Coast Guard, Guardia di Finanza and Local Police of the Municipalities of Vibo Valentia, Pizzo, Briatico, Tropea and Ricadi that have made it possible to ensure total coverage in the supervisory services along the coastal band, from the Municipality of Pizzo to the Municipality of Ricadi.
At the outcome of the numerous checks carried out to nautical vehicles, bathing establishments, rental and lease of pleasure boats, 20 administrative offenses were ascertained, including nr. 4 violations concerning the navigation of pleasure craft in the sea band reserved for bathing, as well as various violations of the seaside safety order, and a seizure of multiple bathing equipment has been seized illegitimately on the beach. A person was also referred to the competent judicial authority for illegal occupation of water mirror and beach on the beach of Santa Maria del Municipality of Ricadi.
The activity took place on the basis of the directives given by the Prefecture and in full synergy among all the police bodies, which have shown that they know how to put in place the collaboration that characterizes every occasion in which coordinated operations take place, for the benefit of the efficiency and effectiveness of the action of prevention and repression of the offenses.
The control activities of the water and the coast of jurisdiction will continue, also in the context of the “Sea and lakes 2025” sea and lakes, in order to protect the safety of navigation and the safeguarding of human life at sea.
