Political forces divided into Calabria on the proposal (launched by the aspiring governor Pasquale Tridico) to establish a dignity income. The clash is ideological but also invests the economic profile of the measure to be implemented. Everything revolves around the real consistency of resources to cover the disbursement of the anti-pocket subsidy.
The costs of the RDC in Calabria
In the first semester of implementing citizenship income, in 2019, that is, during the start of the measure, Calabria had 62,584 beneficiaries families (of which more than 90% referring to RDC only and the rest of the citizenship pension), equal to about 8% of resident families. The average monthly amount received was 493 euros, higher than the national average, with a total expenditure that can be estimated at around 370 million euros per year.
