Choreographers, directors, artists and performers of the most representative of the national and international scene, from 4 to 7 September they will meet on the Ionian Calabrian coast, in Soverato, to create the first edition of a festival that offers shows, installations, performances, moments of comparison. A beginning that already looks to the future, to build shared paths that start from Calabria to get to the rest of Italy and Europe through dance and performative art. Ira Festival will present national and international productions, bringing, also for the first time in the South and in Calabria, choreographers and performers that represent the new trends of the performing arts to build opportunities for knowledge and vision both for the public and for professionals.
Ira stands for “International Institute for Performing Arts”, an international platform for dance and contemporary performative arts, born this year to fill a cultural void and create new connections. To tell us about this new creature, in Calabria, it is Settimio Pisano, author of the concept and artistic curation of Ara (while the direction is by Pietro Monteverdi). Pisano animates with Dario De Luca and Saverio La Ruina the Castrovillari company vertical scene and with them, artistic co-director of the Spring Festival of theaters, is also general manager of the Politeama Città di Catanzaro Foundation.
“Ira is the attempt of a new road that can create a bridge with international productions – explains Settimio Pisano – the goal then wants to allow the institute to be active all year round, while the festival is a platform to involve the territory and give visibility to the entire project, trying, with the resources we have, to give breath to projects of national and international artists”.
A program that alternates shows, shared research, informal talk and DJ sets, in a continuous dialogue between artists, operators, public and territory. Among the international appearances, the Catalan Company Agrupación Señor Serrano with the Italian preview of “Història de l’amor”, while among the Italian artists space for the visionary dance of “Rise” by Daniele Ninarello while moving between the ritual and theatrical game, in the first absolute, “Lunar dogs” by Francesco Marilungo. And then space to the artists in residence who will share their studies with operators and public.
