Better, the Polyclinic definitely better. “Stable” the IRCCS Piedmont-Neurolesi (but with an unknown man who remains unresolved). The Papardo still loses something. This is, in a nutshell, the picture that emerges in Messina from the definitive version of the new regional hospital network, approved last Friday by the Schifani junta. A sort of “bag” of the beds, which tells of weeks of negotiations and adjustments that evidently made themselves necessary after the drafting of the drafts of July and August.
Polyclinic
The most important changes are recorded for the university hospital. In the previous draft, compared to the 2019 hospital network, the Polyclinic lost 33 places between acute and post-acute. Now, however, he earns 8, with a 41 -seater budget compared to the draft of July. But another figure stands out: the new regional “map” provides for the Gazzi hospital for an increase of 58 beds if the comparison is made with the “real” situation of the posts activated on 6 June last. In summary: the 2019 network indicated a total of 561 seats, in early June those activated were 511, the new network has 569. To weigh the 10 more beds of the new emergency room, the 8 more for orthopedics and traumatology (from 16 to 28), the 6 more of urology, the 8 more pneumology, the 4 of neurology and then the 8 places of ” from Piedmont.
There are, however, also important “less” signs: the Polyclinic loses 18 seats compared to the 48 that had been activated in general medicine (although the 2019 hospital network expected 26, therefore formally, compared to the network of 6 years ago, it earns 4), just as there are 10 less seats, always compared to 2019, in pediatric (but 5 more than those actually activated in this sixty). Another department that pays Dazio is gastroenterology: in 2019 22 beds were scheduled, until June 14 had been activated, the new network indicates just 10.
Papardo
“Negative” balance for the Papardo company: it was so in the draft of July, it continues to be like this, indeed, with another 3 places less. This is the overall figure: in 2019 the regional network indicated 375 beds between acute post-acute acute, the Papardo-in contrast-in recent years has activated even more, arriving, in June, at 390, but the new network approved on Friday indicates in 344 the sum of the beds scheduled for the hospital company in the north area. The departments that pay the main duty are orthopedics and traumatology (-6), neurology (-5), obstetrics and gynecology (-5), plastic surgery (-4). Then there is the case of pneumology: the 2019 network included 8 places, in the meantime the company has activated 16, but the new network now includes 12.
The most important novelty (which had already been included in the draft of July), however, concerns the “rescue” of the pediatric cardiac surgery of Taormina: the hospital network, in fact, includes for Papardo 8 beds of pediatric cardiac surgery, all working in the Taormina hospital garrison, as well as the coronary unit and cardiology. An expedient to keep the “Sirina” risk department alive, waiting for a definitive solution.
Piedmont-Neurolese
Just as it emerged in the draft of July, the IRCCS Piedmont-Neurolesi “Bonino Pulejo” is the company that earns the most places, both compared to the 2019 network and compared to the total of the places activated on June 6. In the end there are 36 more places than in 2019, but above all it is 108 beds the increase, starting from those already activated. The short circuit was remedied which emerged in July on neuro-rehabilitation seats (code 75), which are now 8 more than in 2019 and 17 more than those activated (and 13 more than those who had been included in the draft two months ago). The document approved by the Region is specified that the rehabilitation beds also include those for pediatric rehabilitation, while 30 places for long -term care will be activated in the garrison of Casazza. “In place-reads-18 beds of post-acutes remain frozen to be activated at the time of the company’s overall renovation”.
And here comes the main node, for the IRCCS: the infinite expectation (of which we wrote in recent weeks) of the 91 million euro loan, allocated by the government in 2016 and, again, never arrived. A loan from which, among other things, the renovation of 8 out of 16 pavilions from Piedmont depends. And without which – the last update is that a new, yet another opinion from Rome – must be awaited – the increase in beds will remain only on paper.
