“The beginning of a new school year is always a moment full of emotions, in which common commitments, hopes and objectives are renewed. School is much more than a place of education, it is a gym of life, an environment in which every day you learn not only from lessons but also and above all from comparison, sharing and mutual respect, from sociability, in which new knowledge, relationships, values ​​are built; it is a living community, made of growth, of challenges. It is here that the future is built every day;

This was stated by the regional councilor for education, Maria Stefania Caracciolo, on the occasion of the inauguration ceremony of the school year 2025-26, at the “F. Severo” higher education institute of Gioia Tauro, an excellence point of this region that operates in one of the most fragile territory.

“A school-he added-which has over a thousand students and who, by interpreting the needs of the territory, stands out for the quality of the training offer thanks to addresses that cover strategic sectors also for our economy, focusing on the school-work alternation through numerous contacts with local economic realities to allow the acquisition of practical and professional skills capable of facilitating the insertion of those young people in the work world. That, through numerous initiatives for the spread of the culture of legality to some of which I have had the opportunity to participate, it is concerned with the consciences of young people by removing them from those phenomena and from that mentality that have long prevented the development of this land; Organized: a strong and concrete signal of rebirth and legality, which combines formation and social redemption.

During his visit, the councilor then intervened on the role of the school and the professors who are responsible for the task not only of imparting tasks and notions but also of listening to, and supporting each student by motivating it.
“A decisive, exciting role, and, at the same time, extremely demanding and complex, which – he underlined – needs to be supported above all by us institutions through a concertation action; it is from this action with the world of school and the local local authorities that important projects were born, such as the provision of voucher for the purchase of didactic material, already in its second edition and which will continue to face the needs of the Calabrians families with situations. Delicate income, such as the financing of education travel to allow our young people to know the potential of the territory in which they live, an action that will be re -proposed during the new school year, as the experimental project ‘discussing together’ which will have started already from next October as per operational instructions that are about to be dhereted, which will guarantee the presence of a psychologist in the secondary schools of the first and second degree with the aim of offering individual support. and groups to students, families and school personnel, contrasting the youth discomfort and promoting the well -being of our young people; a measure that is accompanied by others who are about to be equally started, for the recovery, enhancement, raising and evaluation of the skills in Italian and mathematics, through the experimentation of an innovative didactic and evaluation method. They support the significant ones, activated by the Minister of Education and merit for a school more and more in step with the times, oriented towards an educational growth and the needs of students in conditions of fragility “.

On the occasion, the initiatives started in relation to the integrated education system from birth to six years with the appropriate regional law and regulation, adopted in 2024 in implementation of the national legislation, for a unitary educational path, with the aim of guaranteeing all children equal opportunities for the development of their potentiality, exceeding inequalities and social, economic and cultural barriers also educational in the territory; A system that is about to be completed with the definition of the “staff training plan”, the “criteria for the establishment of the poles for childhood” and “guidelines for territorial pedagogical coordinations, also the result of concertation with the world of education and local local authorities”.

The councilor also sent an open letter to the school managers and teachers of the schools of the Calabria Region in which he remarked the certainty “that this school year will live up to the last, continuing and implementing the good so far as so far”.
