A real cannabis plantation, well hidden in the woods of the Reggio hinterland, was discovered by the carabinieri of the Palmi company. The operation, coordinated by the Public Prosecutor of Palmi, led to the complaint of three men and the seizure of amazing substance, as well as the destruction of hundreds of plants ready to be placed on the illegal market.
The investigations had started about a month ago, when the military of the weapon – during a control service of the territory aimed at the contrast of illegal crops – had identified, thanks to the support of the Helpful Calabria hunter squadron and the helicopter core of Vibo Valentia, a vast cannabis plantation indicated.
From there more in -depth investigations were triggered by the Carabinieri station of Delianuova, who allowed to identify the three alleged managers: among them also the owner of the land in which the crop had been set up. The investigations also led to discover a cottage, used as a deposit of the substance and accessible only to the three suspects. With these tests, the Prosecutor has ordered a series of searches, also conducted with the use of the anti -drug dog units, which have made it possible to find further alleged amazing substance, confirming the investigative system.
The plantation, consisting of about 400 height plants between 1.5 and 2 meters, was destroyed. According to the first estimates, over 2 quintals of marijuana could have derived from the harvest, for a market value of over 200,000 euros. A hard blow, therefore, to the drug trafficking of the plain of Gioia Tauro, thanks to an operation that once again testifies to the constant attention of the carabinieri in the fight against the phenomenon of cannabis crops and drug trafficking in the area.
