The Higher Education Institute of Cariati has officially started the new school year with a special day dedicated to the reception of the first classes. An intense, participated and significant moment, designed to make the new students feel immediately an integral part of the school community and the values that animate it every day.Ad to open the morning was the school manager, Dr. Sara Giulia Aiello, who addressed a warm greeting to the boys and their families.
In his speech, the manager wanted to transmit a deep message: the wish that each student can live this path not only as an opportunity for learning, but also as a space in which to grow, get to know each other better and consciously build his own life project.
“Our task as a school, he said, is to accompany you in your journey, support you, stay next to you. We want to eliminate together those obstacles that can interfere with your well -being, both personal and collective. Here you are the protagonists: free to express yourself, your talents and your passions.” Words that touched deeply and who left their mark.
Following, with the first classes of the chemical address, Prof. Antonio Caruso, professor of chemistry and collaborator of the manager, intervened, who addressed the students directly with an invitation to responsibility and respect for the rules. In particular, he recalled the ministerial circular that prohibits the use of cell phones in class, underlining how excessive use of digital devices can negatively affect concentration and, consequently, on learning.
Professor Caruso then reiterated forcefully that the school is and will always be an open dialogue space, where each student can express doubts, difficulties, or inconvenience.
“You can and must contact your teachers with confidence: we are here to listen to you, to understand and help you overcome all difficulties. In addition to us, the plexus representatives, Prof. Marisa Lindi, professor of law and civic education, and Prof. Giuseppe Basis, professor of Physics, are always available.
In the same morning, and always in the presence of the school manager, the traditional welcome breakfast for class students before the four -year course took place at the Hall and sale of the IpSsoa of Cariati.
The initiative was taken care of by guidelines, prof. Antonio Mignanelli (food and wine laboratory – cuisine) and prof. Domenico Sassano (food and wine laboratory – room and sale), with the precious support of laboratory technicians and the collaboration of the fourth class pupils Giuseppe Russo, Luana Gentile and Marialuisa Scorpiniti, who dealt with preparation and service.
The new arrivals thus had the opportunity to live a warm and significant moment of welcome, immediately experimenting with the concreteness and quality of the chosen path, illustrated with passion by the school manager.
Students expressed enthusiasm and awareness, understanding that, with commitment and dedication, they will be able to build the foundations of a future full of satisfactions. A future that, thanks to the skills acquired in our institute, will allow them to grow as people and as professionals, capable of enhancing themselves and the territory in which they live.

The day was marked by a moment of profound emotion. In an atmosphere of silence full of emotion, the students of the scientific high school wanted to remember their partner and friend Rocco, tragically disappeared last September 10, at just 17 years old. Rocco, this year he would have attended the fifth class.
In the presence of the school manager, of the first collaborator Prof. Concetta Cosentino, of the teacher Domenico Liquori, of many other teachers and school staff, the students gathered in the external space of the school to pay homage to him. With simple but full of affection, his companions wanted to remember him, concluding the moment with a symbolic gesture: the launch of white balloons towards the sky.
A silent, but powerful greeting. A collective embrace that has combined everyone in shared pain, transformed into a lively presence in the heart of those who knew him. An instant of deep quiet, broken only by the heartbeat and the breath of the wind that brought those balloons upwards. Rocco, he was there. And it will continue to be there, every day. With this spirit, Cariati’s IIS confirms itself as a school that welcomes, which forms, that listens, but above all, “a school that does not forget”.

Special moment

Today, however, the first classes of the Mirto dell’Ipseoa plexus received the visit of Don Maurizio Biondino who gave the blessing and inspired a song of joy together with the latest arrivals
