The first edition of the “Health Ciclovia” (which will continue on 20 and 21) with the scientific conference “Pedalo to prevent” opened today in Catanzaro, to the regional citadel, the first edition of the “Ciclovia.
A room crowded with healthcare professionals, administrators, representatives of associations and citizens has given the signal of how much the theme of prevention through healthy lifestyles is today the center of public attention today.
The works saw the participation of Oncologists from Oncomed, of the serial pedaling association, psychologists, nutritionists and sports specialists, who presented scientific evidence and good practices. In particular, it has been underlined how regular physical activity – also moderate, as a ride or a walk – represents one of the main factors of oncological and cardiovascular risk reduction. In the same way, proper nutrition and the treatment of psychic well -being have been recognized as indispensable pillars for building a real health culture.
The comparison emerged the need to integrate health policies with environmental and social policies more and more: prevention is not only a medical act, but a path that concerns communities, institutions, families and territories. In this sense, the cycle path of the parks of Calabria has been indicated as an infrastructure of extraordinary value, capable of combining the naturalistic and tourist use with the possibility of becoming an open -air “widespread gym”, accessible to everyone.
The meeting also gave space to testimonies and stories of experiences, showing how outdoor motor activity can be an opportunity not only for health, but also of sociality, inclusion and personal growth.
The conference, promoted by the Calabria Region with the support of the European Union and the collaboration of reality of the third sector, has marked a moment of concrete dialogue between the scientific and institutional world.
In conclusion, it was reiterated that the challenge of prevention passes from the direct involvement of citizens, the strengthening of territorial networks and the intelligent use of the natural resources that Calabria offers.
With this first appointment there was a clear route: health is not only the absence of illness, but a lifestyle that is built daily, ride after ride, along paths that intertwine nature, sport and community.
The “Ciclovia della Salute” event, which was created to enhance the cycle of the parks of Calabria as a tool for promoting healthy lifestyles and prevention, will also continue on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 September. The attention will move to the territory, with two cyclopasses in the parks of Calabria: on September 20 from the Mancuso village (Sila National Park) to Lorica, starting at 9.30 am; On September 21 in Lorica, along the banks of Lake Arvo.
On both days, oncomed health stations will be active, with the possibility of making free screenings and consultancy, as well as thematic workshops for children and families.
