Only one week is missing at the beginning of the IX edition of Matter, the festival that this year turns into the international fair and becomes the contemporary Mediterranean Fair. From 25 to 28 September the “Giovanni Colosimo” Fair of Catanzaro will host the best of contemporary design inspired by the Mediterranean, between tradition, innovation, crafts and technology.
A modern and large place that will host brand, designers, craftsmen and audiences in an event that looks forward, without forgetting its roots.
It is an extremely important change for the event that was conceived by Officine AD, founded by the architects Domenico Garofalo and Giuseppe Anania, with the support of the Calabria Region.
Material 2025 is proposed as a physical platform of meeting, exchange and research, becoming a real cultural journey in the heart of the Mediterranean. To lead the organizational team the interior designer Natalia Carere (product manager and set -up) and the creative director Matteo Bonacci. At the center of the 2025 edition a selection of exceptional guests, including the goldsmith Master Gerardo Sacco, who for many years has been a symbol of Calabria and his ingenious creativity in the world, the Sicilian Giuseppe Arezzi, Antonio Aricò, Paolo Casicci, Emiliana Martinelli, Massimo Sirelli.
Many proposals developed: including exhibitions, talk, workshops, immersive installations, music, a program designed for professionals, students, enthusiasts and families. Space for the “Mediterranean between tradition and innovation” call, which has collected numerous candidates, and to the Stirparo prizes, with a research bag to the first classified, and Splaash, for the second; Finally the special mention in memory and in the name of the architect Sergio Mirante.
The South – in this innovative proposal – becomes contemporary Mediterranean in a multisensory, dynamic and engaging experience, where design meets culture, the territory and above all people. To re -establish new ways of being together, and to design the future.
