After the release, he did not only resume the reins of the gang but also altered the judicial auctions to return to possession of the assets which, over the years, had been confiscated. This is what is contested by the boss of Gioia Tauro Giuseppe “Pino” Piromalli called “Farezza”, the main suspect arrested this morning by the carabinieri of the special operational grouping in the “Res Tauro” investigation. Mafia -type association, extortion, recycling, self -mirroring, illegal possession of weapons and ammunition, disturbed freedom of enchantments, personal aiding, fraudulent transfer of values, aggravated by the mafia method, as well as crimes on arms the crimes contested to the 26 suspects who ended up in prison for an order of the investigating judge at the request of the prosecutor of Reggio Calabria Giuseppe Borrelli Musolino.
The investigation reconstructed the current structures of the Piomalli gang whose strategic-operational direction was composed of the boss Pino Piromalli, 80 years old, and his brothers Gioacchino and Antonio, 91 and 86 years respectively. Back free in 2021 after 22 years in hard prison, according to the investigators, Pino “Farezza” had a position of pre -eminence in the gang where he redefined the roles and tasks of the associates, reaffirming his power in the area through constant extortion pressure against entrepreneurs and commercial operators.
Among the disputes of the DDA there is the alteration of the judicial auctions through the pollution of the related sales procedures. The goal was to acquire goods of interest of the gang itself and return to the possession of those already confiscated. Assets that would then be fictitiously registered to compliant third parties in order to evade the risk of a property prevention measure. If someone had been intent on winning the auction, moreover, he would have been forced to pay money to the piromalli who reinvestivate the huge illegal profits in entrepreneurial activities attributable to the gang, through a recycling and self -laundering system connected mainly to the services provided to the local farms.
According to prosecutors, there was a unitary management of the Piomalli gang that operates as a single economic entity, whose illegal profits are shared and distributed. In addition to the arrests, the DDA has issued an urgent preventive seizure for a value of 3 million euros performed by the Ros. The seals were applied to 6 properties, 16 plots of land, 3 individual companies and 2 agricultural companies. Finally, a second seizure for an amount of over 4 million euros was issued by the Prevention Measures section of the Court of Reggio Calabria and concerned the movable property, properties and banking reports of Pino Piromalli and its right arm Antonio Zito.
