This is the comment of the Milanese lawyers of Ilaria Salis, Eugenio Losco and Mauro Straini, after the vote of the European Commission that rejected the request for revocation of immunity for the MEP AVS.
A right and fair trial in Hungary, the lawyers explained, “cannot be guaranteed in such a political case, where there are pressure from the Hungarian government and this applies to Salis and the Hungarian themselves”. These are “fundamental issues – added the defenders – and it is right that the Commission has recognized them. This is a first step, the real vote will be expressed by the plenary assembly on October 7th ».
On the fact that Salis said that he would like to be tried in Italy, the two lawyers said: «You asked for a fair trial and for some issues he could not take place in Hungary.
