Netanyahu at the UN: “We will end up the work in Gaza, we have not forgotten our hostages”

It is the day of Benjamin Netanyahu at the Palazzo di Vetro: his words resonate in the room of the UN General Assembly and on televisions from all over the world, including the Gaza Strip where his “we will end up the work” comes via SMS to the Palestinians and through the speakers positioned this morning in the enclave, among the accusations of Megalomania and the risks courses by the soldiers.

From the podium, in front of dozens of chairs left empty by the delegates who got up between whistles and applause before he took the floor, the Israeli premier skiled his repertoire, in a ‘shopping list’ of eliminated opponents, threats foiled, promises kept and feasible dreams. At the top of the list of enemies, there is “Iran and its axis of terror” which “threatened the stability of our region, the very existence of my country” and “the peace of the whole world”.

Against the Islamic Republic Israel, together with the United States, acted and won, continued Netanyahu, thanking the US President Donald Trump for his “courageous and decisive action” alongside the Jewish state against the nuclear and missile threat of Tehran. “Trump and I promised that we will prevent Iran from developing the nuclear weapon and we will keep it.” But “we must remain vigilant” and “do not allow Iran to reconstruct its military nuclear capacity”, he added, exhorting the security council to restore sanctions.

In a speech dotted with some cry of protests of family members of the hostages and many applause, the premier with a certain rudeness and transient has presented his successes of the last year: «We devastated the Iranian program of atomic weapons and ballistic missiles. Half of the Houthi leadership in Yemen has gone. (Hamas’ management) in Gaza, gone. Hassan Nasrallah in Lebanon, gone. The Assad regime in Syria, gone. The militias in Iraq have been discouraged. And the highest military commanders of Iran and nuclear scientists, they too ».

But there is also space to look to the future: first of all the Abraham agreements, which would bring enormous benefits if they were also expanded to other regional actors, but also Syria and Lebanon, with whom we could come to peace now that the situation has changed. “We have started serious negotiations with the new government” of Damascus and “I believe that an agreement can be achieved that respects the sovereignty of Syria and protects both Israeli and minorities in the region, including the Drusa,” said Netanyahu. As for Beirut, if he continues in the efforts to “disarm Hezbollah, we can reach sustainable peace”.

A clear message for his opponents but also for his allies and, last but not least, for his fellow citizens, a part of which for months has protested against the government and his action of sabotage of negotiations for an agreement that puts an end to the Gaza war and bring the hostages back home.

And just at the kidnapped still in the hands of Hamas in the Netanyahu strip, first in Hebrew and then in English. “I want to speak to the hostages, I had speakers placed speakers around Gaza so they will hear my message: we have not forgotten you, we will not rest until we have brought home.” And to remind all the atrocities committed by Hamas on October 7, the premier showed up on stage with a QR code on the earth of the jacket, which refers to a website with the massacre documentation and who, he said, explains “why we fight and we have to win”.

Looking right at the Striscia, Netanyahu stressed that Israel “has not yet finished the job” but “must finish it as quickly as possible”. “There are still remains (of the militias) of Hamas in Gaza City”, where the IDF has been carrying out a controversial land operation for ten days, supported by intense bombings, which has so far forced over 700 thousand Palestinians to escape south. As for the accusations of genocide and to grasp the population of the strip, Netanyahu has denied both, claiming that Israel does everything to save the civilians, warning them and urged them to escape, and lavish to let the food enter that “Hamas Ruba”.

If the Islamist militant group is evil, the “moderate Palestinian national authority” is not better, “corrupt to the core”, continued Netanyahu, citing the financial assistance program for the attacks and school books such as those of Hamas who teach to hate the Jews. Of his reform in “we have heard for decades,” he added.

But among the recipients of the show, and of the arrows of the Israeli Premier, there are also the different Western countries – starting with France, the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia – which in recent days have officially recognized a state of Palestine. “Pure madness”, “have rewarded the worst anti -Semites of the world”, a reward after “the horrors committed by Hamas on October 7” and “praised that day by almost 90% of the Palestinian population”, accused Netanyahu. “90% supported that attack,” he marked from the stage, claiming that “the Palestinians are not interested in the solution of the two states”. “They had a state to Gaza and attacked us repeatedly, transforming it into a terrorist base.”

In his Cahiers de Doleances, Netanyahu accused the western countries of hypocrisy – “many of the leaders who publicly condemn us, in private thank us” – of weakness and for having “sold to the medium of part” and “anti -Semitic crowds”. Against the international isolation that is increasingly heard – the speech of Netanyahu of last week on Israel as a super -party on the way of the autarchy made the markets grown and alarm the financial and technological community, beyond the political one – the Israeli leader has focused the finger at the international community and its convictions and penalties, the embargoes and the “judicial war”.

“We will not allow you to impose a terrorist state,” he assured, comparing a Palestinian state to a reward in Hamas after October 7 as it would have been for Al-Qaeda after September 11th. And it was not the only reference to the tragedy of the twin towers. Netanyahu also made another parallel of October 7 in the USA, in numerical terms of victims and hostages, claiming the response that “any country would have given”.

Historical references that in its intention must resonate to the ears that interest him most, those of Trump. In view of their face to face next Monday, the fourth, yesterday the chief of the White House turned off the boiling of the premier, declaring that it will not allow the annexation of the West Bank. A clear phrase that in Israel has aroused the wrath of the right, the colonists and the Ultra-Nationalists Messianic, who urged the Premier to continue in the application of sovereignty to the occupied territories, despite the opposition of a “dear friend”.

And precisely to defuse the accusations of being hostage of the far right at home, in his speech to the General Assembly Netanyahu stressed that he speaks “not only on behalf of the government, but on behalf of all the people of Israel”. As proof, he mentioned the vote at Knesset in July 2024 when by majority the deputies approved a resolution against the creation of a Palestinian state. «It is not simply my policy or the policy of my government. It is the policy of the state of Israel ».
