‘There is a gesture of love that blooms twice: adopting an olive seedling, symbol of the UNICEF Italia’ olive national campaign – nothing is more beautiful than seeing it grow ‘, every root that we live in is in place is hope for our planet and future for children. A small tree, a symbol of peace, resistance and life, which contains a great future “. This is the meaning of the numerous initiatives that since yesterday- by the Unicef ​​Provincial Committee of Cosenza- have started in many centers of Cosenza: Acri, Cariati, Corigliano Rossano, Cosenza, Longobucco, Altilia- BelSito-Grimaldi-Malito, Mirto Crosia, Paola, Albanian.
The ‘#Ulivounicef’ campaign is active in 500 squares throughout Italy and sees 5 thousand volunteers committed to raising awareness of the population towards the protection of the rights of the childhood. The 15 thousand seedlings will serve to support UNICEF projects for the millions of children who live in war and emergency contexts all over the world. Supporting the campaign carried out in the area by the Unicef ​​Provincial Committee of Cosenza, chaired by Monica Perri, means doing its part for the life of these minors.
“Millions of children in the world -says the president of Unicef ​​Italia Nicola Graziano -are at risk for humanitarian crises caused by brutal conflicts, with the devastating effects of climate change, by the widespread increase in poverty, malnutrition and diseases. Today the scope of humanitarian needs of childhood has achieved a very high level. According to the latest available data, 473 million minors live or flee from areas affected by conflicts; 50.3 million are displaced; 1 billion of children, almost half of all those in the world are at high risk due to climate changes.
Banquets and meeting points – coordinated by the secretary of the Provincial Committee Ida Mancuso – were animated in Acri in the Serricella district, in Cosenza in Piazza dei Bruzi and to the city of the boys, in Cariati Marina in via Venezia, in Corigliano Rossano at the Fabiana Luzzi municipal park, in Longobucco in Piazza Matteotti, in Mirto Crosia in Piazza Dante, in collaboration with the Cultural Circle ‘Zanotti Bianco’, Piazza IV Novembre and Spezzano Albanese.
IC ‘Amarelli’ of Rossano, the ‘Da Fiore’ high school of Rende, the iOS of Longobucco and the Scientific High School Fermi Technical Polo Bruitium in Cosenza and the ‘Collodi’ nest of Castrolibero will planted olive trees in their courtyards.
On the occasion of the Walk of Peace, which took place today in Savuto, the ‘Walks of Health’ group donated Pianine di Ulivi to the representatives of the Municipalities of Altilia, Belsito, Grimaldi and Malito who in the next few days will find home in public gardens.
