He did not say it publicly – on the contrary, he reiterated the exact opposite – but the current patron/honorary president of Cosenza Calcio, Eugenio Guarascio, has no intention of selling the company. Lieet of being denied in the morning, but the feeling breathed in the Business of the San Nicola cinema, location that hosted the public assembly strongly desired by the rossoblù fans, is exactly this: Guarascio Ciurla in the handle, climbs the mirrors, recalls a past made of great sacrifices (“But do you know how much does it cost to keep a football team?”; etc.), reiterates on several occasions that he “put his face” but does not answer, in practice, to any questions presented by the interlocutors of the day: rossoblù supporter, journalists, but above all the two potential buyers: the entrepreneur Alfredo Citrigno and the lawyer Pietro Gigliotti (the first aspiring direct buyer, the second intermediary of a Umbrian consortium). Here, often at the patron/honorary president of Cosenza Calcio, the fact of understanding little football has been contested, despite almost three decades riding the rossoblù club; But for sure, the patron/honorary president, something learned it for osmosis from large numbers 10: dribbling. Too bad that for years now, nobody has caught his fake anymore. And, as mentioned, even when he says he wants to give in to society, it is not very credible.

The ballet of the figures

Yet, despite Guarascio’s real immobility, some number has been extorted with great determination. These are the data relating to the purchase proposal presented exactly one year ago by Citrigno (5 million euros as the first tranche, plus another 5 within 18 months as long as the team did not relegate) and also to that of the Umbrian consortium (1.5 plus debts). Made known, with a sensational effort, also the counter -proposal of Guarascio at the intermediary Gigliotti (5 million plus debts). But in the end, what really matters, is what … it has not emerged, that is, the real intention of the patron/honorary president: to make the price, not taking into account that the club, especially in recent months, has been crossed by cyclones such as penalties, foreclosures, a bitter relegation, as well as precious collaborators. etc. etc. As if that were not enough, also the mayor Caruso, who said he wanted to re -evaluate the convention currently in place with Cosenza as regards the management of the stadium, surrendered. “Even tonight in such a assembly, Guarascio did not move half a step forward.”

The indecipherable future … but perhaps not so much

And now, after this assembly what will change? Knowing the modus operandi of Guarascio, the answer is soon called: nothing. And so also any other challenges (two others from outside the region in addition to the known ones of Citrigno and the Umbrian consortium) will be dropped on deaf ears. Starting from the deadline set by Citrigno himself (two diligence in a week and fourteen days high to conclude the negotiations). We reiterate, we would be happy to be denied, but the fourteen years of the Guarascio era have taught that the future is far from indecipherable. Just add the dots, following what it has been. Hence so much discouragement. However it goes, the attempt of Cosenza all is destined to spend history because an entire city has loudly screamed its dissent: on the one hand passion and despair, on the other rhetoric and victimization of those who have always acted according to a single motto: “The ball is mine and I decide when to stop playing”.
