Moments of fear in San Ferdinando, where a foreign citizen was arrested by the carabinieri on charges of mistreatment, kidnapping and subtraction of a minor.
The child saved by the military
The alarm took place after a 112 report for an attack in the family. According to what was reconstructed, the man would have hit and threatened the young companion with a knife, and then move away bringing the girl’s son with him.
A few minutes later, the carabinieri tracked him down while dragging the boy barefoot on the hot asphalt, in the direction of the port of Gioia Tauro. The baby, in tears and frightened, was immediately rescued and reaffirmed to the mother.
A story of violence and abuse
The investigations brought out a picture of violence that had been going on for some time. The girl, known the man in Bulgaria, had been forced to deliver the money earned by working in black, used for alcohol and gambling. After the transfer to Italy with his mother, the individual had reached her, demanding money and hospitality until the episode culminating in the arrest.
The man was taken to Palmi prison. Its position remains under consideration by the judicial authority: it is to be considered innocent until possible definitive sentence of conviction.
