A large landslide occurred this morning in the port area of Ginostra, a tiny fraction of the island of Stromboli. Massi and debris detached themselves from the coast of the Pertuso airport and were hanging on the containment network which is rusty and torn in several places. Fortunately there was no damage nor injured but all the material remained in the balance ready to come down any moment.
A strong fright for tourists and inhabitants who passed through in the area who witnessed the landslide event preceded by a strong noise and followed by a cloud of land that has deposited along the entire area concerned. The inhabitants of Ginostra ask for immediate interventions as under the landslide ridge passes the only road that leads to the port of the village and therefore the only way of escape in case of need.
