«Since, like many others, Legambiente did not invite us to the debate among the candidates for the presidency of the Calabria Region, believing that we are not although we are like Occhiuto and Tridico, we have to participate in the press and tell our once again excluded. However, excluding only from the lounges, not from the popular consensus that grows around popular sovereign democracy ». This was stated by Francesco Toscano, candidate of DSP for the presidency of the Calabria Region. «The debate of Catanzaro between Occhiuto and Tridico confirms – explains Toscano – which in Calabria continues to fight without dealing with the environmental question in the correct way. On the one hand we have a outgoing president who, after four years, claims ordinary administration on waste and purification as a success. On the other, a candidate of the center -left who today still preaches the Gospel of the ecological transition, even disavowed by his friend Mario Draghi, the “lord of the rings” who calamitted the grillini with this mirage and convinced them to fideistic obedience. I would like to remember that today the fake repentant Draghi has grafted the reverse on the entire Green Deal. Tridico carries on the shoulders that cultural and political failure, and it is therefore the least credible to talk about the environment ».
«We say it is enough for this sterile dialectic. Calabria – says Toscano – needs a public and community model that puts citizens, mayors and territories at the center. As for the Green Deal, we – Toscano points out – are against and this divides us totally by Occhiuto and Tridico. Downloading on the poor the costs of the ecological transition is a diabolical plan of the powerful who devastate the world and make on the shoulders of the masses, to which they attribute the responsibility for pollution. Defeating the financial, omnivores and brutal potentates is the only way to preserve the environment and human life ». On the theme of Tuscan waste, it attacks and proposes: “Occhiuto boasts of the 65%differentiated, but does not say that Calabria is not self -sufficient, so part of the waste is still disposed of outside the region, 192 thousand tons according to the ISPRA 2024 report, with important additional costs for municipalities and citizens. We propose to introduce the obligation of short supply chain for recycling and recovery of materials, supporting public treatment plants on a territorial scale and rewarding the virtuous municipalities with actual tariff reductions. Tari must decrease with recycling and not increase to feed yet another emergency ». As for water and purification, Tuscan underlines: “Occhiuto entrusts to Sorical the task of managing the integrated water service, but the results remain unsatisfactory: in Crotone, in Catanzaro and Cosenza the water continues to miss the evening, the network losses exceed 50% and the purification is not up to par. Tridico denounces the pitiful state of the sea, but does not say how to remedy it at all. Our proposal is clear: real public management of water as a common good, with investments bound to the maintenance of networks and a transparent control over purifiers. Calabrian universities must be involved permanently in monitoring and technological innovation. Only in this way can citizens trust a management that today is only public on paper. Calabria is not saved with Occhiuto’s propaganda nor with the illusions of Tridico. We need a new model and – concludes Toscano – above all it is necessary to make it work in maximum autonomy from the hidden powers and the ‘Ndrangheta ».
