The Liade, directed by Giuliano Peparini, staged from 13 to 16 April at the Greek theater in Syracuse in a special version with students and former students of the Academy of the ADA and Peparini Academy dedicated to students protagonists. It is one of the novelties presented by the National Institute Foundation of the ancient drama that this year has decided to bet even stronger on young people and students in particular.
“The relationship with schools and students is written in the history of the ADA, since the first edition of 1914 -said the mayor of Syracuse and president of the Foundation, Francesco Italia -. Through these initiatives we want to build the spectators of the future but at the same time make sure that the boys become the first ambassadors of theater and classical culture in particular ».
This month the Proagon project will start, organized together with the Municipality of Syracuse. Proacon, conceived by Michele Dell’Utri, involves over a thousand students from Syracusan schools every year in workshops approaching the theater which then end at the Greek theater with a large city choir. “The project – explained the superintendent Daniele Pitteri – in seven years involved over 5 thousand students between 5 and 19 years in 186 theatrical workshops activated within 23 schools for a total of 2,790 hours of teaching, thanks also to the support of 207 teachers and the commitment of 22 professional artists. Proacon this year will focus on the Iliad “.
From November, students are also dedicated to a special promotion to visit the Orestea multimedia exhibition Act according to Palazzo Greco: through augmented reality and virtual reality it will be possible to interact with archival documents and with the protagonists of the birth of the ADA. They took part in the presentation, precisely to underline the relationship with the school, the president of the free Consortium of Syracuse, Michelangelo Giansiracusa, and the manager of the regional school office – territorial area of Syracuse, Luisa Giliberto.
The opening of the ticket office for the sale of tickets for the 2026 season of classic representations has also been announced. As highlighted by the Director of Delegate Marina Valensise from 8 May to 28 June on stage Alcesti of Euripides directed by Filippo Dini in the translation of Elena Fabbro; Antigone of Sophocles directed by Robert Carsen in the translation Francesco Morosi; The Persians of Aeschylus directed by Alex Ollé, one of the founders of the Fura del Baus, in the translation of Walter Lapini and a new Iliad by Giuliano Peparini on booklet by Francesco Morosi starring Vinicio Marchioni, in the role of the AEDO and Giuseppe Sartori (Achille). Peparini has announced some new entrances into the cast and the reinterpretation of his setting.
A special promotion for the Christmas period is also announced. Those who want it will be able to buy for themselves or as a Christmas gift a ticket for classic representations with the possibility to choose by March 30, the date on which to attend the chosen show.
Finally, through the Angelini Foundation, through the general manager Gianluigi De Palo, he explained that this year he will also offer free tickets to the students of the Roman schools to make them witness the 61st season of classic representations at the Greek theater. From next Monday the start -up courses will start at the theater proposed and created by the Fernando Balestra section of the Academy of Art of the ancient drama. They are aimed at children and teenagers aged 5 and over, with the addition of a senior class reserved for adults.
