Ninì Germanà represented one of the last examples of the “old politics”, in the good sense of the term, always in close contact between people, for people. Always present in the front row passionately in all electoral competitions, even in those of the father, the Hon. Nino Germanà elected for six legislatures at the Sicilian Regional Assembly in the ranks of Christian Democracy and several times regional councilor.
Ninì Germanà had made the apprenticeship: first elected in the DC files to the city council, then councilor for the Municipality of Messina in the junta led by the mayor Pino Merlino, later elected deputy (among the most voted in the province of Messina) always in the ranks of the crusader shield. Later, elected to the Chamber of Deputies in the file of the Italian Republican Party, resulting in the most voted deputy in Italy (overcoming Giovanni Spadolini himself for preferences).
Many of his battles to the Region, the one for youth cooperatives, where he managed to create 300 jobs only in the province of Messina. The battle at national level for university researchers are still his battle. A figure of “old -fashioned politician” disappears with Ninì Germanà, when politics was to take citizens’ needs to heart. The funeral will take place tomorrow, at 12, in the Church of the Annunziata, in Brolo.
