A widespread and coordinated action to control the territory has allowed the Carabinieri to carry out, in recent days, a series of targeted interventions to combat the detention and illegal marketing of pyrotechnic material in the province of Reggio Calabria, to protect public safety and the safety of citizens.
The interventions
In Bagnara Calabra, the soldiers of the local station together with colleagues from the Guardia di Finanza Company of Villa San Giovanni, released a man into freedom following a check carried out inside a commercial business. The investigations made it possible to ascertain that the operator held over 230 kilograms of pyrotechnic articles.
In a second intervention, again the soldiers of the Bagnara Calabria station reported a man for illegally possessing over 500 kg of explosive material.
A third intervention was conducted in Fiumara, where the Carabinieri of the Fiumara and San Roberto stations proceeded with the release of a man in a state of freedom following a house search. Inside the house, explosive materials were found, held without any police title and intended for sale, including a homemade device with a trigger fuse, batteries of single-shot tubes and numerous firecrackers of a prohibited category, for a significant total weight. Also in this case, the material was seized.
Finally, in Siderno, as part of targeted prevention services, the Carabinieri of the local station identified an illegal storage of pyrotechnic material, finding approximately 100 kilograms of fireworks of various types, detained in the absence of the required administrative authorizations and stored in conditions that did not comply with safety regulations. The presence of the depot in an urban context could have generated serious consequences for the community.
Danger neutralized
The interventions implemented have made it possible to neutralize situations of real danger, confirming the constant attention of the Carabinieri towards those illicit phenomena which can seriously put public order and safety at risk, especially in periods of the year characterized by an increase in the use of pyrotechnic devices.
All the seized material was made available to the competent judicial authority.
