The sea reached the little church of Piedigrotta. The second most visited site in Calabria, today is under the constant assault of the waves: in recent days, the wave fury has in fact seriously threatened the charming little church, inside which there are the precious sculptural works created by Angelo and Alfonso Barone, between the end of the 19th and the 20th century.
“Regular maintenance essential”

The people of Naples are in fact worried: Santino Galeano, highlighting the gravity of the situation, notes that the seabed is full of boulders and thus criticizes the lack of significant interventions in recent years, proposing. Furthermore, he warns that the simple construction of maritime barriers is not sufficient: “regular maintenance is essential to ensure that the boulders are repositioned, thus preventing their dispersion due to the waves. Otherwise – he comments – we find ourselves like at the Marina, where the seabed is full of boulders which only capture the result of raising the wave motion and, therefore, the violence with which it hits the fixed barriers”.
