Cosenza like Bari, Palermo, Catania, Milan and Turin. It is among the provinces most sought after by temporary teachers and, consequently, among those in which it is most difficult to obtain a professorship. The same applies to the large metropolitan areas of Rome and Naples and, for some competition classes and types of places, also for Caserta, Foggia, Latina, Salerno and Trapani.

In general, the South concentrates a high number of requests and aspirants, while in the North the situation appears reversed. The picture is drawn by the sector portal Miureditore, which is currently busy analyzing the updating of the provincial rankings for substitute teachers.

The most crowded provinces

The Ministry of Education and Merit does not provide a real-time update on the number of applications submitted for GPS nor on their territorial distribution. However, through the consistency data of the rankings published by Viale Trastevere, it is possible to obtain reliable indications on the preferences of the teachers.

In detail, for childhood the primacy goes to Naples, followed by Rome and Palermo; the provinces with a significant presence also include Catania, Bari, Turin and Milan. In the Primary, Rome leads ahead of Naples, with Palermo and Catania immediately behind and Caserta among the most significant entities. For support, especially in secondary schools, the greatest concentration is found in large cities. In the upper secondary school, Rome and Naples stand out, followed by Milan, Palermo, Turin, Catania and Bari; in lower secondary schools Naples, Rome, Palermo and Catania remain in the lead.

Expires March 16th

Meanwhile, thousands of teachers, including those from Cosenza, are busy checking qualifications and scores in view of the 2026-2028 GPS update. A crucial step: the update arrives after two years and for the next one we will have to wait another two years. Even a single point can make the difference when it comes to summer nominations.

You have until 11.59pm on Monday 16 March to submit your application.

Staff numbers and declining enrollments

Once the registration phase has been completed, the schools are preparing their staff for the next school year. The tables must then be examined by the competent school offices for definitive approval of the number of classes and teachers needed.

This year too there has been a decline in enrolments, an effect of the demographic winter which continues to significantly impact the school system.
