The twist matured in the afternoon, when the end of the centre-left soap opera seemed to be close, if not already written. At 7pm the statement was released in the editorial offices: Paolo Todaro, the Uil trade unionist who, over the years, has become famous for the battles waged at the University of Messina, helping to unleash the storm over the former rector Salvatore Cuzzocrea, withdraws his availability. He will not be the wide field candidate. News that does not mature within the regional table (indeed, it would have all emerged within Avs), but which overturns the table itself, now forced into a sort of game of Goose: we start again from the start. It’s true, the name of Senator Dafne Musolino remains in the field, launched by the Sicilian leader of the Reformist House Davide Faraone, but with the “retirement” of Todaro, the Cinquestelle who reiterate that they do not want to indicate names (by the way, an electoral pact for a single list with Avs is likely), it will be up to the Democratic Party to indicate a candidate.
Who? The puzzle is all there. It seems that the provincial management, between Sunday night and yesterday morning, had decided to propose the deputy provincial secretary Maria Flavia Timbro to the regional table, when Todaro was still the strong name. In the background, but not so much, the hypotheses of the city councilors Antonella and Alessandro Russo also remain. This afternoon a new provincial summit is expected to reach a consensus. Because now time is really running out.
