The Tindari Archaeological Park also joins the Sicilian Cultural Heritage Day, scheduled for Tuesday 10 March and dedicated to the memory of the archaeologist and former regional councilor Sebastiano Tusa on the seventh anniversary of his death. For the occasion, access to the Park sites will be free and accompanied by special events and initiatives designed to involve citizens, families and students.

In underlining the cultural and professional depth of Sebastiano Tusa, the director of the Archaeological Park of Tindari, Giuseppe Natoli, emphasized the need to keep alive the memory of an internationally renowned figure, who gave so much in terms of valorising and protecting Sicilian cultural heritage. «As the regional councilor Francesco Paolo Scarpinato has already declared, the archaeologist Sebastiano Tusa continues to represent a point of reference for a cultural policy based on research, protection and valorisation.

The Archaeological Park of Tindari – is the comment of the architect. Giuseppe Natoli – can only enthusiastically join this initiative, opening its treasure chest to those who want to discover the archaeological and historical-monumental beauties of the sites that extend from Milazzo to Tusa”.

The day includes free access to all sites of the Archaeological Park, with specific activities in the following ones:

– Antiquarium of Tindari (exhibition of coins donated by the lawyer Giovanni Sciacca).

– Roman Villa of Patti Marina (open-door restoration of the floor mosaic of Dionysus).

– Archaeological area of Tusa (visit to the open construction site of the archaeological excavation of the Hellenistic Roman theatre).

– Guided tours to discover the archaeological sites of Milazzo, Tindari, Patti and Capo d’Orlando (reading and in-depth programs on the mosaics, with information on execution techniques and practical demonstrations of maintenance and restoration).
