The State Police has carried out an incisive administrative control activity in the municipality of Villa San Giovanni, which is part of the inter-force services envisaged in the national and transnational action plan Focus ‘Ndrangheta, aimed at the prevention and repression of crimes through targeted surveillance services set up with an Ordinance of the Police Commissioner of the Province of Reggio Calabria Paolo Sirna.
Three commercial activities in the crosshairs
The policemen of the Administrative Team of the PS Commissariat of Villa San Giovanni, together with the soldiers of the Companies of the Carabinieri and the Guardia di Finanza, of the Port Authority and with the help of the personnel of the Local Police and of the Labor Inspectorate of Reggio Calabria, paid attention to three commercial activities to verify the correct application of the regulations regarding health and safety on work logos, the administration of food and drinks, the conservation of food products, as well as verifying the presence of any illegal workers.
Complaints and seizures
As a result of the activity, the patron of a bar of Tunisian nationality, already burdened by criminal and police records, legal in the national territory, was reported to the Judicial Authority for failure to produce the residence permit; 6 kilograms of fish products without traceability and origin were seized, stored in freezers for subsequent sale/distribution, administrative sanctions were contested for violations of food preservation methods, for a total of 1,500 euros and the presence of a worker without a regular contract was ascertained, with respect to whom further investigations are underway.
